WHO'S YOUR GRANNY!?

DOES YOUR GRANNY KNIT?
I'm looking to interview traditional knitters. Your grandmother, your mother, your brother.

If you live in the United Kingdom, please contact me for an interview.

No need to be a yarn bomber (but if your granny is a yarn bomber, that is super cool)

No need to be as cute as this photo (she can't be real!)

Knitting/crochet skills essential!

Getting the UK BuZzzzzzZ!

Here I am, arrived in wonderful Scotland... but where are the knitters? I've heard about them, I've seen the pictures, I've read the hype, but where are they hiding? It's time to sneak out of your castles and put away your masks and contact me for a stitch of laughter!
(How corny is that?)
On a serious note, as serious as this topic can be, send me an email if you know someone or are someone who likes to stitch up public space. I'll travel anywhere and if you are elsewhere in the UK please contact me as I'm organising my route for the summer to come and film you.

Early June I'm travelling to Berlin, stay tuned!

Tempting the Evil in Paris

Ahh the wonderful knits of Soléne, a very talented knitter remain on the tree for such a short amount of time... it's such a shame...but another great day filming, in Paris!
Soléne is part of a group called the Collectif France Tricot. They are formed of knitters in Paris and Berlin...
Poor little Soléne had a bit of trouble knitting the higher end of the snake and the passers by were too afraid to assist. I guess they were worried about getting put in jail for knitting up a tree. I guess it's pretty illegal. Imagine a criminal record for knitting up a tree, it would be pretty difficult to get that job as a prime minister... dammit!

so I guess next up is a trip to Berlin! Hook me up :)

My wonderful friend...

This is a weird time for me... one of my closest of friends has just passed away. This friend, Brad, is also the brain that inspired and helped me develop this documentary. He's been chatting with me for months getting excited about this project. His unexpected passing has torn me into pieces.. however I have now decided to dedicate this project for him. This is for you Bradley, a true friend and a shining star always. My heart bleeds at the thought of not seeing you again but I also know you are somewhere better. Until we meet again, I will use every creative bone in my body in a way that will make you proud.

by the way,

Anyone know who did this? I photographed this in Amsterdam during my current trip; a great yarn bomb... but it was taken down the next day. Such a shame, I thought it was pretty fabulous.

Amsterdam Shenanigans

So let's start by saying, " I Heart Amsterdam".
But lets also conclude with the fact that Amsterdam weather doesn't always heart me.
Had a couple of nice interviews in Amsterdam with some wonderful knitters, crocheters, lovers of graffiti knit, as well as the not so loving it...
It rained bucket loads the entire day, but there was no stopping us now!
Our guerilla knitter stays anonymous only known by her street art seen at http://www.ladiesfancyworksociety.com/

2 more sleeps until the adventure begins!

I've got all my equipment ready, and now I just need to pack.
I've failed at my first attempt to start packing. Hopefully I'll get my things into a backpack in time.
I'm wondering if I should risk sneaking my crochet hook onto the plane. I'm not sure how it is with their obstruction of security measures. Those crochet hooks are pretty dangerous, but I'm making a flower how dangerous can I really be?

Catch you on the road!

Who's Next!?

So I'm really happy with my fabulous knitters Grrl & Dog and Veronica Darling and now I'm busy talk to many knitters about my next shoots.
I feel like maybe this shouldn't be a girl wit ha crappy camera because my camera is actually pretty good. I've also just purchased my own awesome radio mic so I'm READY! Funding so far has been a bit of a struggle. I'll be heading over to Scotland in early May where I'll be working at BBC (super YAY) so perhaps I'll have another opportunity to pitch there maybe?. WHO KNOWS? (Can you even imagine if BBC bought my story? I think I would lose bladder control).
Enough of hypothetical scenarios, My next interview will be in Tel-Aviv Israel in April, Stay tuned.

I've just put a segment together that I shot at Bendigo Woollen Mills... this is also where I buy my wool and meeting the staff made me love them even more. The clip is pretty dam good but I think that if I give away too much there might not be enough surprises. Please note, the clips I put on the blog are teasers only. They are not the final program, there are plenty of surprises.

Don't forget, if you hate this, please let me know because I want to know!
